My search for Savage

I went into the Redmond Borders today looking for It Gets Better by Dan Savage and Terry Miller. After looking on the new release table and then the new non-fiction shelf, I went to the info desk. I mean, considering it's on the New York Times Bestseller list, one would think it'd be somewhere easily discovered ( Read more... )

If you're peeved that the book wasn't being displayed where it should be, that's cool. But that could be a simple mistake. And your experience in retail to the contrary, sometimes things ARE in The Back.

OTOH, if her laughter seemed genuine that would seem a good sign. The idea these days that a book supporting GLBT should be automatically considered "subversive" or "controversial" SHOULD be laughable.

Are you planning to swing by again and see if the book is now being properly displayed?

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one. I was irritated that they didn't have it out more than anything else, and yes, her laughter was genuine. No conclusions from me without corroborating evidence.

Our "Monday" magazine used to feature his column and it was replaced some years ago.. pity I enjoy reading him. I hope the book is good and look forward to your review of same.

I will check out bookstores and make sure that his book is in prime display territory, after all, is that not the point?
