Going to the dentist in a bit; not really looking forward to it

I leave for the dentist's office in roughly half an hour or so. This is the regular cleaning plus x-rays that most of us have on a regular basis. I do not fear the dentist's drill, nor am I scared of the scaler. I've been going regularly enough that the tartar on my teeth is pretty light ( Read more... )

Oh man. Yeah, I can see that happening.

Any chance of making it an opportunity to practice emptying your mind of those thoughts, meditation-style? Remain in the present and just perceive all the things going on around you, instead of checking out and withdrawing into the abyss?

It makes perfect sense. I've had times when I've kind of blanked out and felt hideous while undergoing dental care. The dentist thought I'd fallen asleep - I could only wish.
