A period of inactivity

Last week I did something I didn't think I would be doing at this point in my life: I told SAG-AFTRA that I was no longer actively looking for union work. For those of you who don't understand why this is so depressing, think of something you love doing way down in the core of your soul. Something you do all the time. Something that gives you joy. Now think about not being able to do it again.

I completely understand. I've not done any musical stage work since 2009 when I did "Hello, Dolly" in Seattle. It has contributed mightily to the depression I've been experiencing in the aftermath of the deaths of my parents last year.

One question... If SAG-AFTRA work came out of the blue which is possible, would you have to repay all of the back dues before proceeding?

I hope film or television work comes your way, in surprising and wonderful ways!

Yes, if I started back up, I would have to pay any dues that were owed prior to my going inactive (but I was paid up when I sent them the letter of intent) so I would likely have to pay dues for the period covered by the time I went active again. But if I don't work for two years, I don't have to pay dues for those two years where I did not work. Thank goodness.
