So one of Obama's co-chairs for his FCC transition team is a WoW player, and a reasonably serious one at that, having a level 70 character. There's a somewhat interesting analysis of his character at this LJ entry, but my favorite comment is this one:

I find this whole situation amusing and more than a bit disorienting.

Yeah, I did not anticipate this when they said that change is coming to Washington.

The part I find the most amusing is the amount of research the gaming community is doing to verify his authenticity as a "gamer."

You guys are so cynical of politicians. I see no evidence he didn't hire a Chinese farmer to do his menial work (ie, leveling, gearing up) for him. And for all we know, his secretary did the research for the itemization, enchanting, and character spec.

That's the kind of politician I want, anyway: one who delegates research for answers to solved problem, and who only takes part in the challenges with uncertain outcomes.
