Aww. I hope not. What determines how it hatches?

That's fairly mysterious; a combination of clicks (1 per day per person or it gets sick), unique views, and time.

An arcane ratio of views, unique views, and clicks (unique by definition.)

Too many non-unique views kills it (it gets sick at something like 10 times), unique views and clicks feed it. If you somehow get more clicks than views, it gets sick.

It seems that clicks and views later on in the life cycle do more good than earlier ones.

You can save one that's sick, though, by getting it a lot of unique views -- or by hiding it so no one can see it for a while. It's apparently "too many non-unique views in too short a time."

And you get lots more clicks than views when an eager 8-year-old wants to see it hatch NOW NOW NOW. >_> (However, the ones that got that... got a lot of unique views and lived!)
