I haven't had a chance to update (still need to figure out this time management stuff), but wanted to post my latest 2 versions of my painting.

Pictures and such behind the cut... )

On the week 5 picture:

My first thought was "she should have moved the branch out of the way of the camera before she took the picture". Then I realized the branch wasn't real. Yay for self-similarity and talented people :) It's really cool to watch this come together

HAHA, awww, thanks :)

Incidentally, we're going to Boston for a few days in August (technically Maine for a wedding, but we're flying into Logan). Would love to see you again :)

cool! When in August? (I'm around the first 3 weeks, but we have spare rooms the last week even though I'm away, if you're looking for crash space)

Awww, thanks for that offer! We might go with a hotel just so we don't have to inconvenience people, but I will definitely keep it in mind. Right now, the trip is between Thur, Aug 11 and Thur, Aug 18, with the 11, 12 in Boston, going to Maine from the 13 - 16th, and coming back to Boston on the 17th.

I'm trying to see how many people I can round up for a mini-TJ reunion :) We'll see how successful, but off the top of my head - Margaret and Greg, Anita, Steven Sivek, and you are all in the Boston area...

As mentioned in the previous entry, very interesting to see how long it takes to steadily complete/develop the painting.

Just keep in mind that I don't quite have the time to devote to this as much as I'd like. Think of each week as 2-2.5 hours, so this is really only about 12 hours worth of work, to give it perspective. Most paintings take 30+, I want to say, and something of this size possibly more :) Grad school, even without the classes, is keeping me busier than I'd like.

I also just bought *another* 50% off class, for a different place and with a different focus - portraiture. Should be fun - that's a 5 day intensive - 6 hours a day for a week. I'll be posting those results too after that class (mid-July).
