Shoujo Kakumei Utena: Discussion
I have noticed that a decent amount of people on my f-list are Utena fans, and probably non f-list Utena fans stop by now and then.
So, because I'm in need of some interesting non-school-related discussion to take my mind of my impending finals, I ask you:
Shoujo Kakumei Utena: what's up with that?
If you feel like doing so, please comment with your thoughts on the series/manga/movie. And, as you guys all know, please be civil to folks who post comments that you disagree with (I'm only adding that on because I can't deal with any drama right now, no matter how small!). But please do feel free to comment and civilly disagree (or agree!).
Some things to consider (though you don't need to talk about them):
1. The relationship between Utena and Anthy. Are they the same person? Friends? Lovers? What about in the manga or movie?
2. The relationship between the anime and the movie.
3. Mikage and the black rose arc, particularly Mamiya and the sleeping duelists.
4. What is 'revolutionizing the world' in the context of the series?
5. The castle and the dueling arena.
6. The relationship between Dios and Akio.
7. Anthy. Witch? Princess? Bride? Demon? Goddess? Girl?
8. The roses and their symbolism-- especially the spinning ones that show up when introducing a character. What about the various white and red roses that show up throughout the series/movie?
9. Sibling relationships.
10. The ending.
11. How real is Ohtori?
