Keep In Touch - Chapter 20

Notes: I’ve never been one to write long chapters, hence the ridiculous number of chapters in this story.
Summary: You discover how lonely life can be as the best friend of an idol.
Word Count: 638
You decided to leave the stage after a couple of songs. As much as you loved dancing with Super Junior, you still wanted to dance with your classmates. You knew that prom was supposed to be happy, but you couldn’t take your mind off of Taemin. You were incredibly excited to spend the night with Taemin and heartbroken when he had to cancel. You turned your attention to Super Junior, who had briefly stopped singing to make an announcement.
“We just wanna take a quick moment now to tell you guys that we’ve got a special surprise for you!” Shindong said.
“One thing that you knew for sure about this prom was that there would be a mystery band performing, right?” Kyuhyun confirmed.
“Well, there’s actually going to be a second mystery band performing!” Yesung exclaimed.
“Please welcome to the stage…” Heechul began.
“Can we get a drumroll please?” Hangeng asked.
There was a drumroll as the crowd discussed amongst themselves who it could be. Finally, Super Junior moved to either side of the stage and you immediately saw a familiar face.
“SHINee!” Super Junior exclaimed excitedly.
You were so happy, you felt like crying. You almost wanted to run up on stage and hug Taemin, but you stopped yourself. SHINee was here to perform, not to see you.
“Are you guys having a good night?!” Onew yelled.
The crowd screamed and roared in response.
“We’re gonna start off with a song I’m sure you all know: Lucifer! How’s that sound to you guys?!” Key was really pumping up the crowd.
Some of the members of Super Junior stayed on stage to sing and dance with SHINee, while others left to join the crowd. Getting closer to the stage was impossible at this point, so you led a few acquaintances in Lucifer’s choreography.
A couple of hours into the night, Super Junior announced that they, along with SHINee, would be singing a few ballads.
“Find yourselves a partner because we’re about to slow it down.” Sungmin announced.
“We’re gonna start it off with Life.” Onew continued.
“And we’re going to pick one very lucky girl to come up on stage for us to sing to.” Key added.
“Which one of us is going to pick the girl?” Taemin asked, hoping it would be himself.
“Hm…let’s let Minho pick her.” Jonghyun suggested.
Minho sauntered back and fourth across the stage, scanning the crowd. By now, you had managed to make your way to the front and it was then that Minho recognized your face; he couldn’t remember your name, however.
“How about you in the front here with the red dress?” Minho offered his hand and pulled you up on stage.
You heard various gasps and cheers behind you.
“That’s the second time tonight!”
“She’s so lucky!”
“I wish I was in her position!”
You sat down on the chair that had been brought on stage and SHINee began to sing to you, with Super Junior providing backup vocals. SHINee was very good at fan service; they often looked into your eyes as they sang and sometimes gently caressed your face-or perhaps it was as Taemin said and they felt comfortable around you because you were his best friend.

(Only one is you) Only one is you in my life
It all just felt like a dream. Did that really just happen? Shivers ran down your spine as Taemin’s lips met yours after singing his final lines. You didn’t know if it was just a stage kiss or not, but it sure as hell felt real. You doubted reality for a while until your lips eventually parted.
The crowd roared and applauded, but you didn’t rise from your chair. You couldn’t move a muscle; Taemin’s kiss had paralyzed you.

A/N: I keep forgetting that today's Saturday and that I'm not actually late uploading this week since Thursday was my last day of school and now I'm on March Break! Also, I'm disregarding the fact that those last two lines actually belong to Jonghyun for the sake of the plot. Only one chapter left now~!
