It had been about a week since Taemin announced your relationship on SHINee’s me2day. Even so, you were still harassed by psychotic fangirls practically any time you went out in public. You never realized how possessive fans could be. Through all the drama, you continued to confidently hold your head high and didn’t let it get to you.
On your way to Lotte World, you could hear people outside screaming obscene things at you. You felt bad for your taxi driver for having to put up with it but he simply turned up the radio and ignored it.
“I’m not much of a SHINee fan so maybe there’s something I’m missing here, but I don’t see why it’s such a big deal that you’re dating one of the members.” He said.
He was an old family friend of yours, so he didn’t mind driving through streets filled with angry SHINee fans to take you places. They annoyed him to no end, but he was a good friend to put up with it for you.
“To be honest, I don’t really know what the big deal is either. I mean, I haven’t done anything wrong.” You said.
As you pulled into the parking lot of Lotte World, you put on a baseball cap and sunglasses. You could already hear people insulting you but you paid no attention to it. By now, this had become a part of your daily routine. Hiding your backstage pass in a pocket in your purse, you decided to stand as far from the stage as you could. You didn’t want people to think that you were only there because you were Taemin’s girlfriend, even though that was exactly why you were there.
After the show, you headed backstage. Two girls who had won passes from a radio show made disgusted faces as you walked past them.
“At least we won our passes fairly. I bet she just asked Taemin if she could have one.” One said to the other.
“Actually, we offered her the backstage pass and the ticket to the show. She never asked.”
Taemin seemed to have come out of nowhere. He put his arm around your shoulder and smiled.
“Taemin-oppa!” The girls squealed.
Onew, Jonghyun, Key and Minho showed up shortly afterwards.
“Hi, we’re SHINee!” they said cheerfully.
You waited around while SHINee had a quick meet-and-greet with the two girls. After security showed them out, the boys of SHINee were ready to go on some rides. They allowed you and Taemin to explore by yourselves, with security of course, while they went to the opposite side of the park.
“So how did you like the concert? We were good, right?” Taemin asked.
“You guys were awesome, as usual.” You confirmed.
Taemin walked around with you, pointing out various rides along the way.
“Do you want to go on this one?” Taemin asked eagerly.
“Not really…it looks really big.” You said.
“Come on, please? For me? I promise it’ll be fun.” Taemin persuaded.
“Okay, fine. I’m sure it’s not as bad as it looks.” You said.
“Yes!”
Taemin clapped happily and took your hand as he ran towards the line. Girls refrained from making faces due to Taemin being with you, but both of you could clearly see the jealousy in their eyes.
“I’m sorry, Taemin. This is all my fault. You wouldn’t be getting all these looks if it wasn’t for me.” You whispered.
“It’s all your fault for being so amazing and making me want you to be my girlfriend. Don’t even worry about them.” Taemin replied brightly.
He gave you a kiss on the cheek and held your hand. He didn’t care who saw; he had nothing to hide. As you got on the roller coaster, Taemin clutched your hand and assured you once more that it would be fun. Besides, it was too late to back out now.
You found yourself screaming for practically the whole ride, both out of fear and enjoyment. Taemin was proud of you for facing your fears and bought you a souvenir picture of the ride. After a long day of Taemin convincing you to ride almost every attraction in the park, you finally returned to the stage to meet up with the other SHINee members.
“So, how was your date? Did you have fun?” Jonghyun sang.
“We had a lot of fun. I got her to get on like, everything!” Taemin bragged.
“You’re afraid of roller coasters?” Minho guessed.
“Yeah…” You nodded shyly.
“Well I’m glad you had fun, but I wanna go home now. I’m tired.” Key said.
He took the hands of Jonghyun and Minho and started to drag them back to the van.
“Come on you guys, hurry up!” Key whined.
“We’re coming!” Onew and Taemin called back.
“Should I just go home?” You asked.
“No, you can come too. We’ll take you back to the dorm to hang out or something. Now hurry up, let’s go.” Key said.
“Yes!” Taemin pumped his fist in the air quickly and cheered, stopping himself and acting like nothing had happened after realizing that he had done so out loud.
You laughed at him as he took your hand and started to walk you back to the van. Key looked back every so often to tell you to hurry up, but you continued to walk at the same speed. It wasn’t long before he took matters into his own hands-literally. He let go of Jonghyun and Minho to grab you and Taemin. You looked at each other and couldn’t help but laugh as Key shook his head impatiently.
“Aish, you kids…” he grumbled.
“Hyung, we’re only two years younger than you. We’re not kids!” Taemin insisted.
“It doesn’t matter.” Key said.
“Why doesn’t it matter?” Taemin asked.
“You’re the maknae. That automatically makes you a kid. Besides, if I’m SHINee’s umma, that makes you my kid.” Key reasoned.
“That…actually kind of makes sense.” You admitted after thinking about it.
“You nag me too much. I want a new umma. Jonghyun, be my umma!” Taemin demanded.
“Okay!” Jonghyun happily obliged.
“Hey!” Key exclaimed, offended by Taemin’s comment.
You didn’t mean to laugh, but you found the family dynamic in SHINee funny and kind of cute. It comforted you to know that behind the cool images celebrities upheld on stage, most were really just dorks behind the scenes.
