Alfred, the Bible, and my own lamantations.

Beware, this post might be long.

First, the good news:  Alfred has arrived!  After five days of labor, he finally gave birth to a generously-sized off-spring whom I have christianed as Alfred.  He is doing much better and is continuing to recover.  Thanks for all your concern.

Confession:  I was reading a post from Pommy's lj, and he brings up ( Read more... )

Friends are really quite overrated...I have tonnes of them, yet I very much doubt any of them could be defined as "true" friends maybe one or two, well, my girlfriend probably, but the point being, friends come and go, oranges are forever ( ... )

Oranges have been a frequent topic with you of late. No apologies for rambling. Feel free to do so at anytime. You're saying it better than I can at the moment.

And yes, Alfred is a kidney stone. It seems like he has a slow twin that is yet to arrive, though. I'm sure we'll soon find out.

Here are some thoughts on the Old and New Testament. I've had similar questions. I think the Old Testament portrays the true attributes of God just as much as the New Testament. God is just. Wickedness is punished. If one goes outside the bounds and laws God has set there are consequences. There is no way around it. God is hard lined and rigid and unchanging. God is also merciful and loving. He has set things up so we can succeed. It is the same now and in the Old Testament times. But if we don't do our part there is nothing he can do for us. We will feel the pain ( ... )

Wow, you put a lot of thought into this, didn't you? Thank you for your comments. Some things, I already knew. Other things were new to me. I guess the thing that gets me most between the two examples is the TONE. I know I'm not making a lot of sense. I hardly understand it myself. But I appreciate your post.

I think you are making perfect sense. I think it's good to think about this kind of stuff. I have a lot of questions about God and religion down to the most basic of concepts. Some people would call them doubts. I don't think it's good to keep them bottled up. I try to let them motivate me to investigate. It's hard sometimes. Let's face it. It's hard most of the time.

I would also like to say these are just my thoughts and interpretations on some doctrines. I may be way off.
