Oh. I guess an update is in order. The last many of your heard was probably that I was in Seattle working on a PhD in astronomy. Things have changed. I now live in Baltimore, Maryland and work as a programmer supporting an atmospheric scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. But, Matt, what of your appendix? Do you get to keep it in a jar? Also, have you seen Chuck out there? I'm depressed I didn't get to drive across the continental U.S. with you, but I just started a job as a retail clerk where the boss believes NPR is an agent of evil. He's insane, but the pay is decent and they work around my Poly schedule.

No one offered to give my appendix back so I don't know if they do that. I haven't seen Chuck yet but I've been meaning to call him so maybe I will soon. How much longer you gonna be at Cal Poly?

Until they run out of interesting subjects or I run out of money. I'll probably graduate this spring, but I'm not certain.

Sounds like a fun job, congratulations!

So, did you get the PhD first and then the job, or decide that a good job is more important than finishing the doctoral paper chase?

I just dropped out of grad school and decided a masters in astronomy was good enough. And now I make more than some of my professors!
