Awards banquet

In no particular order::

* Was it just me, or was Kurt doing his best to make up for the "She's real good at shopping with my credit cards" comment re his girlfriend that he made on Regis? For a minute there, I thought he was gonna whip out a ring and propose to the girl!

* Elliott just looked strange tonight for some reason....I wish he'd skipped the fancy schmancy grooming routine and just rolled out of bed and put on a tux. He's so much cuter when he's all scruffy. Yea, yea, I know it's an awards ceremony, but still.

* Awwww....Kasey took his mom...cute!

* I wonder how much Nextel paid Jr to do that bit when he took a pic of the audience for his mom...it was still cute, though, as much as I hate to admit it.

* It was nice to see that they actually aired Jamie's speech this time...I was so pissed when the network shafted him last year!

* Did they show Kasey's ROTY speech this year? Bhavana called me in the middle of the show (right after the comic's main bit ended), and the first speech I saw when I got off the phone was Jamie's. I couldn't cut her off bc today is her bday and she was returning my call, but I would have liked to have seen Kasey's speech if it was aired. No regrets on missing Scott Stapp (Strapp?), though!

* I really liked Krissy Newman's dress....yea, random I know

* I got tripped out at the beginning of the show when TNT had the sound/visual times off. You could read Weber's lips as he said something, then 5 seconds later, you would hear it. I finally just stopped paying so much attention because it was really annoying...they must have fixed it because I didn't notice it later on.

* They showed Carl! That was awesome...mainly because it was so unexpected. I must say, he looked quite dapper.

* So Tony has a monkey...interesting. I looked online to see if there was a pic of Tony and Mojo, but I didn't find one. I did, however, find out that Tony also has a tiger, 60 greyhounds, and 3 other dogs. I also read that this monkey of his can run 35 mph...that's one fast monkey!

In other news, I'm quite encouraged by the crew chief changes for both of my favorite drivers. Bill Elliott is getting Robby Gordon's old crew chief, and while he may not be the best in the garage, at least he has some experience. Things are shaping up for Bill...he's also got sponsorship for at least 6 races (Stanley tools & Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper). Hopefully this means that Ray will run him in equipment that's a little above the r&d level.

As for Brian Vickers reuninting with Lance McGrew...YAY!!!!!! :D

It seemed to me that Brian and Peter Sospenzo just didn't have that "magic". They struggled with handling & poor equipment all year long, and while that doesn't necessarily fall into the crew chief's lap, it does help to have great chemistry. I've listened to Brian interacting with both Lance and Peter over the scanner, and it just seemed to me that he and Lance meshed better. Now if only Brian could get the same equipment as the 24 & 48...THAT would be perfect.

I went to the doctor last Wed, and found out I have strep. The 10 minute test came back positive, so I started the antibiotics then. When I called to find out the results of the 48 hour test, they said that they came out positive too. I think I must have a cold on top of the strep, because I'm mad congested (which I don't usually get when I have strep). I'm feeling a little better, but the antibiotics are really dragging me down. It seems like all I've done the past few days is sleep. I haven't called to switch my conference date, so I'm hoping that I'll be better by the time Tuesday rolls around.

My mom has the same thing I have, so we've both been too sick to take Casey to the vet. Poor thing...at least she doesn't seem to be in any pain. Believe me, if she was in pain, we'd all know it. She would be milking it for all it was worth. I'm sure it's still no fun for her to deal with the other symptoms she's having, though. I haven't had the heart to keep her off the furniture...all she has to do is look at me with those big pitiful eyes and I wrap her up in a sheet and keep a bottle of fabreeze close by. Right now she's actually licking my feet! how sweet is that?
