I think you probably feel that your family wants you to find someone that will love and take care of you and have children with you (which is true, but not necessary if you don't want it). But you also probably feel like your family thinks they may be better at picking someone for you that you are (not true... date anyone you want and never settle for second best). As far as the fear and tentacles and stuff... you are probably afraid of commitment (very normal for a 20 year old man).
