Update from Wales

Jul 03, 2007 18:31

Quick update now from Penarth (ten minutes outside of Cardiff). At my cousins' house at the moment. Dinner is soon, so I've got to go, but I thought I'd stop in and tell everyone that everything is fine. Aside from the whole terrorism thing, which is really big here. The police are all carrying giant freaking AK 47s or some such. Which is scary. We ( Read more... )

Ahmee! Good to hear from you and glad you're having a good time in spite of all the madness (and uh, that type of stuff happens right here in L.A.; don't need to go to a thirld world ghetto to see that).

Ally! Hee. Thanks. (Yeah, but it's all terror-y and in the middle of nice areas and stuff. I dunno.)

(The city, not the activity.)

Yeah, the "activity" is only once a week, right?

Dude, you saw that CSO who got knifed? That's everywhere - which makes you practically famous.

All these guns are creeping me out. Now kind of not looking forward to London on Thursday and airport on the 19th...

By the way? London IS ghetto - get used to it.

Glad things are groovy though :)

Yeah. We walked through the courtyard in front of Westminster Cathedral, which apparently they closed off right after we walked through it. And then they closed Victoria after we went through. I think he got stabbed like 4 minutes before we walked by. Wtf?

The guns are scary. But really, everything was fine and we did all the big tourist things, so it'll be fine. The airport, though... Fingers crossed.

Haha. It is. Though we were in a nice bit. Or it was nice before the dude got stabbed.

Crazy. Apparently he's alright, they've discharged him from hospital already, but yikes.

I've a huge fear of guns which I didn't realise until 2004 when they'd armed police in Birmingham airport for the first time. I couldn't stop staring at them - I actually nearly ended up missing my flight.

Well, sounds like you at least enjoyed your stay anyway. That's the main thing.

That's what I heard. Was but a flesh wound, but yeah. Weird, man.

I'm pretty scared of them myself, so I don't enjoy walking around and seeing all these cops in highly populated areas kind of just swinging their giant guns around. Our cops have much smaller guns. heh

We did! And I'm home now. BUT... we totally saw Persil small and mighty in the grocery store. I had to stop myself from taking a picture, man. Heeee.
