Halloween yay!

Ken and I got pumpkins today and carved them so she could take pics for photo class. I'm so pathetically unartistic, so mine is rather old school and uncreative, but I thought I'd share anyway. Classic pumpkin! That is so cool. We don't get giant pumpkins like that here so I've never seen a carved pumpkin that wasn't on tv/movies/people's LJ posts. So, you know: very exciting for me! Yay you!

You could dress up as... hrm. Tara from Buffy? An evil dentist? (You could be festooned with dental floss!) ...I will try to get back to you with better suggestions later. :D

Giant?! Hee. It's really about the size of a basketball. They had one at this pumpkin patch that was the size of... a beanbag chair!

For reference, our pumpkins are usually about the size that could fit INSIDE an american football. they are Small! :D And, also, holy shit. o_O

Ah, I think those are actual pumpkins that are pie pumpkins? Like, these pumpkins are bred for size. I have a wee one, too, though.

PUMPKIN! I'm impressed. I couldn't carve anything that nice. We're doing the kids' pumpkins tonight. The kids drew the faces on them and B'll do the actual carving. Now tell me, how do you toast the seeds? I tried and last year and failed.

You could just go the old toga route and be a goddess.

Ha! Thanks... I thought it was pretty sucky actually.

The seeds are pretty easy. You just make sure you get all the goo off and then rinse them and pat them dry. Put them on a cookie sheet with tinfoil (I used non-stick foil) and salt them as much as you want. It all depends on how much you like salt. Heh. Then put them in the oven at 325 for 25 minutes, mixing them around on the sheet after about 10 minutes. I think in the end, mine seemed done at 23 minutes, but it kinda depends on the oven. Taste test after 20 minutes or something, maybe? Then ta da!

Ah, but dressing up as oneself for Halloween isn't much fun, is it? Hee.
