Mod post: Dream in Darkness

Jun 28, 2009 17:43

Sunday night will herald the end of the Carnival, the lights fading at dawn, the rock smooth over the area. Only the cemetery, mostly hidden before by the glitz and glimmer remains. On the 8th floor, people might see shambling figures, if outside, or, glancing upwards, feel they're being watched from the stairs far above. The heat wave seems to have temporarily lessened some, indoors at least, giving everyone a temporary relief. However...

During the night, everyone who visited the carnival at any time will be visited by the Ringmaster in their dreams. He will walk through doors as if a ghost, though he appears solid, and red tape will not deter him. His smile is cold, his eyes are devilish, and he will stare at you in a longing manner, capturing your dreamself's attention, holding your gaze. He seems jovial, asking how you enjoyed your time in his Carnival, acting so nice, so thoughtful.

And if you went to the carnival well...he will be exacting his payment now. After all, no matter what a poster says, all of that can't just be given with no prize for himself. On closer inspection of him, you will notice that his black cloak, that you might have thought to be glittering in some dim, unknown light, is actually blinking, the garment embedded with thousands of eyes of all different shapes and colors.

And when he touches you, while you're dreaming and powerless to resist...he'll be taking your vision as well. Come Monday morning, and lasting until Tuesday night, at midnight, those people will have to rely on their other senses, their eyesight taken for a time. While you dream, if you dream, however...you may glimpse nightmarish visions. Visions pulled directly from your subconscious.

Don't worry. He'll give them back. Enjoy that you still have your other senses, until then.

[OOC: Just what it says! If you went to the Carnival at all, come Monday morning you'll wake up sans sight. Your other senses might be temporarily heightened to compensate, that is left up to you! This will only last until Wednesday at midnight, when sight will begin returning slowly, and by dawn on Wednesday morning your sight will be normal. Those who are accident prone might hear the voice of someone they care for back home now and then, gently guiding them away from stairs and the elevator, but it will be infrequent, so be careful! As always, if you have any questions, feel free to poke one of the mods!]
