There's quite a long journey ahead, given how crippled Kal is by his lack of knowledge about the warping that slavery and colonialism imposes on both sides.

There really is, and it's not going to be easy--even when they're both on the same page about slavery, Kal still hasn't fully processed the reality of how hard it is to even have a friendship with someone you own. Fortunately they're both stubborn guys, and heroes to boot. :)

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm anxious to see where this goes as well. :) I have a few "hook" moments in the later arcs, but not sure how the psychology between them connects yet. :)

Oh, man!! :D I kinda figured Kal wouldn't be able to walk right. Poor guy. But then, that means the other Kryptonians can't walk either... *ponders*

But it was so good seeing Kal pledge his allegiance to the Terran cause. ^_^ Just wonderful!

And gods, Bruce's story... *hugs him* What a nightmare. O_O

*applauds* :)

Shhh, don't tell them that might be a disadvantage someday. ;)

Really oddly, the pledge wasn't in the first draft. >_< It got added really late, and yet it's clearly the emotional lynchpin of the series, what the heck? Uh, all of which is to say, glad you liked it! *sheepish grin*

Oh my. This is very lovely, the thought of how strong the Waynes were...

I really loved the Waynes here. Imagining Martha scraping by somehow...I love to think they managed pretty darn well, all things considered.

Thank you!

I didn't expect Kal's return to the Earth he once knew to be so melancholy. Or Bruce to be so understanding to call Kal a Terran. I feel that just as Kal is learning more about how the other lives, the reader is too. And that's a wonderful experience with this series.

Bruce looked back out over the fields of flowers. "A friend of mine once said--" He broke off and repeated, "A friend of mine," somewhat wonderingly, then continued.

Can't help but guess. J'onn? :D

I didn't expect Kal's return to the Earth he once knew to be so melancholy. Or Bruce to be so understanding to call Kal a Terran.

He has had some experiences that incline him toward believing those words. :) I could be romantic and say that Batman is always infinitely hopeful of the chance for people to turn to good despite all evidence. Or I could be brutally realistic and say he's not going to let such a good opportunity/tool go unused. The truth is probably somewhere in between. :)

Can't help but guess. J'onn? :D

*coughs* A good guess... :)
