The first is by a friend of a friend who's just starting to dip her toes into fandom and working through what it all means to her. She's made a lyrical and moving tribute to the power of shows like Star Trek to affect our lives and get us through the hard times, and perfectly expresses for me the wistful joy of coming back to a fandom as an adult

The Star Trek video is really touching. :) It kind of makes me want to watch Star Trek, cuz now I feel like I'm missing out on something beautiful.

And I'm just going to honest and say I giggled throughout the entire mpreg S/B vid. I mean, it's well done, but it's mpreg and I just can't find it in myself to take it seriously, LOL.

Star Trek is special for us old fogeys (gimme my cane! And get off my lawn!) because it was the first exposure to fandom for a lot of us...I mean, to the idea that there could be groups of people who loved something as much as you did, and that it could be enough to make you friends at a certain level. If that makes sense. :)

I know, I know, mpreg! I almost didn't list it because yeah, it makes me giggle. But she's so good with matching up the lines of sight that she managed to trick me into seeing it here and there. :)

I'm leaving for class when I saw this. The first is sad but it has a "The Wonder Years" feeling. It was lovely.

Then the second one... mpreg, I started giggling before I pressed play and couldn't stop, not even now. This is how I leave this morning, shaking my head and spontaneously giggling in the street.

Like people don't think I'm odd enough.

I've never seen an mpreg fanvid! Now that's a challenge...

And yeah, the first one is very bittersweet. I always love seeing people's meta on why they love fandom...

And it works so well, particularly since I'm entirely convinced the next superman movie should be 'Batman Babysits'

I would pay money to go see "Batman Babysits," that's for sure. :)
