Scans: Trinity 18

Oct 03, 2008 21:54

*cracks knuckles* All right. Here's where things get awesome.

I'm a sucker for dystopian alternate realities, so this was so much fun. Sadly, "A world with no Superman or Batman" is...not going to get a lot of fic from me. And yet, I crave fic set in this world.

Specifically, Dick/Roy shippers should be all over this AU.

To sum up a few of the ( Read more... )

scans, trinity

I <3 that 'One made bad people scared' line. Batman in five words or less.

Yeah, I love seeing the huge gap his absence leaves in the whole world. I'm sure Metropolis and Paradise Island are a mess too, but Gotham is clearly a hollow sham of everything it ever stood for.

ASBAR's art looks beautiful, but it's a shiny facade over a really bizarre, OOC version of Batman who: locks Dick in the cave and forces him to eat rats, allows Dick to shatter Hal's larynx and then beats him up for it, meets Black Canary and immediately has sex with her on the street...well, you start to get the idea. It's insane and has no connection to canon whatsoever. It gets a lot, a lot weirder and and more disturbing than that panel. The panels where Batgirl is called a "cunt" by a thug and announces that she's "the fucking Batgirl" are a pinnacle of insanity.

I would say: not for the faint at heart, lol. People have argued Miller is trying to parody comics, but if so it's so insanely deadpan that you can't tell.

o_O That's what they are! They nibbled at the edge of my brain and I couldn't place why they wanted to make me giggle. Thank you. :)

You had me at Dick/Roy shippers.

Now, for the important bits: Where. Is. Dick? I must know. Please tell me he shows up more often. Because Mobster!Dick might be a bit too much for my poor fangirly brain. Although, I'm sure it'd like it very much.

Also, Roy = smokin' hot. This AU is officially awesome. I approve.

Dick only has a couple of panels--our world's Dick falls through, is disoriented, and then shifts into being a leather-jacket clad thug hitting on Donna, who's terrified of him (Donna seems to be a regular civilian in this world). He's smug, cocky, and smooth. I'll clip the couple of panels with him and link them up here when I get the chance, okay? :)

Those giant nods to Five Way Revenge make me absurdly happy. Now I must go read it for the bazillionth time. :D

I'd kinda given up on this series, but hope has been restored, thank you for that. :)

Trinity really dragged there for a while! But a dystopian AU makes everything better. You should check it out just for Rush Limbaugh!Lois Lane excoriating the sellout Flash...

It sure was; I read it every week up to about #15 without being engaged enough with the plot to know much more than there's some weirdoes from another dimension and aliens or something. So yeah, I have some catch-up to do, but I've got it high in the reading queue, but that's entertainment right here.

I'm such a sucker for AU anyway, heh. I need some excuse for enjoying Superman, Inc. even a little.
