How NOT to market yourself

While checking for writing jobs online, I come across profiles of people who are looking for work as writers. Some of these folks don't seem to have a clue as to what a resume or online profile is supposed to do. Others, well... their copy speaks for itself. There's a saying that if a person knows they aren't good at anything, they probably still think they can make a living as a writer.
(I'd add "or run a restaurant" to that...)

Not everybody needs to go to Clarion to survive as a writer, but they'd probably benefit from a workshop to at least get a realistic appraisal of their chances relative to their talent. It sounds like most of them are young/non-native/just starting out so some of that is understandable, but in this employment environment there isn't a junior league when it comes to winning paying work.
