Not drifted off on flood waters.

I'm in one of the few areas of East Coast Australia that's not flooded. Many of my friends in other areas have been affected, but not badly, no one I know has had their house or business flooded ( Read more... )

Thank the gods. Get yourself a rowboat, JUST to be on the safe side. Better still, build a damn ark. You have animals. *giggles*

The animals are safe, they live on the highest hill in the district, and my house didn't flood in the biggest ever flood here nearly 4 years ago. I'll send my rowboat to friends in Castlemaine instead.

A friend of mine just had one of the best vacations of his life in and around Brisbane (two weeks after the big flood). "I'd consider moving there, but they seem to have a natural disaster every week," was his verdict.

Hm, I can see how your friend thought this, but Queensland has had a couple of decades of disasters all at once. It's usually very pleasant.

Thanks for the concern. The worst has been much further north than me.

God, I'm so relieved that you're OK. Mum and I saw the horrible news, and since she knows I've got a friend down under she keeps asking about you. She'll be glad to hear that you're not affected.

I feel so very sorry for the other people though.

Thanks for your concern, and please thank Mum for hers.

I feel sorry for the affected people, 4 years ago I got a taste of it in the Newry floods. The cleanup is actually the worst bit.

I'm glad your area has been spared - you've had quite enough trouble to deal with as it is!

All that flooding is shocking to see. To think Australia's supposed to be in a drought!

Offically, the drought is over. One good season a drought does not break! We'll see about next year, although actually my area is still drought striken, the only part of OZ that is still real bad.

The flooding is shocking. 3/4 of Queensland, half NSW, a lot of Tasmania.Fires in Perth too. Cyclones...get me out of here!

Sounds like you're living a variation of that ancient Chinese curse; you're living in an "interesting" country.
