Coming up for air

Feb 28, 2007 08:27

My mate made it home on the 16th of this month and it has been a whirlwind ever since. We're trying to keep him from having to return for the rest of his deployment for several reasons. The main reason is his back is getting worse now, because he gets no rest, has no way to do physical therapy, and has to wear body armor that weighs almost as ( Read more... )

Having a doc repeat things might work with civi docs, but these are military docs. This one mostly wanted to brag about how much she loved it when she was over in Iraq and how great it was even when she screwed up and admitted she didn't leave the base hardly at all. It's not that the mil people don't listen, it is that they don't care. They seem to think he should be overjoyed to be sent into war.

That's the military, they are allowed and encouraged to do that. He is lucky enough to not be going off base, but he still has to wear his body armor which weighs almost as much as he does. In the military, you fight for freedoms you are no longer allowed to enjoy yourself. At least she was willing to have the test done unlike his last doc who ordered it in front of us and as soon as we left the machines suddenly and conveniently were down starting the day he was to have the MRI done up until the time he left. Now he has had it done, we are just waiting on the results and have to go sign papers allowing me to pick stuff like that up.

Was good to get to see both of you again too. I'm feeling better, still not 100% though. Work has good timing, they called me on the way back too, for the same problem they called me for on the way out. Going to have to get two tires for the van, the rear tires are starting to vibrate bad and I think the belts are seperating in the right rear. It never rains but it pours.

Lobster? blech. I want to know who was the first person to look at that ugly thing and decide to put it in their mouth. I bet it was a drunken dare.

In any case, it's good to hear that you and yours are doing better. I hope everything works out for the best. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

If you have never tried eating lobster, don't knock it on looks alone. My mate wondered almost the same thing until he tried one, now he loves them. And no, things are not doing better. He has already returned and this post was made on one of the few good things to happen during his R&R. The rest was being lied to, fed ungodly amounts of bullshit, and him basically being told he was less than a soldier and even a man for not wanting to go to war and for seeking medical help at all. Save your prayers. All the prayers have done nothing. He and I are the ones who will make this happen or not.
