Michael's computers - and they were, undoubtedly, Michael's computers - had been keeping him occupied for the last three days, so it was hard to say if he actually even remembered Jill existed. He had explained things to her, hurriedly, while tapping away at his laptop, but he doubted she understood. She had never met Michael and he hoped to God she never would.
That wasn't to say that he hadn't noticed things had been a bit strained between them lately, but naturally he assumed it was because of his work. He was also helping with wiring up the island's pitiful collection of huts, but he considered what he was doing now to be far more important. Hence his surprise when Jill snuck up on him.
"Don't do that," he told her, frowning. "You scared the hell out of me. I thought you were a Wraith." It was just lucky he'd had his hands too full to pull his gun on her.

"Sorry," she added and although she realized he probably wouldn't catch it, it was an apology for more than just sneaking up on him.

He drew in a breath and let it out slowly through his nostrils. "Sorry," he said. "I'm just a little...on-edge right now." Finding out some of the stuff Atlantis's arch-nemesis was doing out there in the big wide galaxy tended to do that. Especially when the stuff was this horrific.
