if it is one where you will get penalized then leave some small amt where you will be sending in something like 25$ a month to pay it off. My friend did that with her car. She said she rather have the small amt then a huge monthly payment.

If there is a penalty, normally it is a percentage of the principal balance. For example, say you owe $3500 and the penalty is 10% of the remaining balance. You would want to make a payment of $3499 (just a regular payment- they can't penalize you for that) and then after that pay it off. Does that make sense? I can help you more if you want! :)
