There are other places you can go besides downtown that need people. I don't blame you for feeling unsafe, I don't anywhere either.

you guys are so lucky in the br... i have a genrator right now and have this little net set up, it's better than no power but damn having to spend 8 hours a day to stand in line for food, gas and water and not be able to work or go to school sucks... not to mention no 911 service and protecting my own property. going back to school on top of those things is going to be crazy. but on the bright side i got a shower today for the first time in 10days lol
