I'm staying for a few days in an 'extended stay' hotel, where the rooms have kitchenettes and the staff cleans each room once a week. That's fine; I can't imagine that most rooms actually need the daily cleaning that most hotels provide. I am in Washington State right now to spent a few weeks with my best friend, who was suddenly diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer a few weeks ago when her eye doctor spotted tumours on her retinas and sent her directly to the emergency room.

Tonight's milkshake consisted of an overripe banana, half a tub of vanilla ice cream, a handful of plain M&Ms, and more vodka than I prefer to admit.

It was delicious.

I'm at the Buddhist centre today, and my friend the lovely ngakma who does acupunture here and leads lunchtime meditation couldn't come today, so it's just me.
