I got sick of people comparing anything and everything to Hitler years ago... people have so little imagination.

I mean does it look like Voldemort was put in power legally, that he had an official government, that most of the WW supported him and that he used the administration ressources to discriminate, opress and exterminate Muggles, Muggle born wizards and Squib ?

Completely agreed. Then again, it's not like people pay attention to history in the United States, after all! (I will generalize and say that most of the people making that comparison are Americans, at least in terms of the sorting community.)

I wondered if I'd get booed down if I compared the Death Eaters to the Irish Republican Army, because that was honestly the first thing I thought of when I read the series. Domestic terrorism in Britain, after all...
