I'm a little disheartened. About two weeks ago, I re-tore my medial meniscus, and the most damning part is that it wasn't in an area of avid activity (though I've been trying to lose weight for awhile now). But, you have to understand to some extent that the injury itself is temporary. It just happens. There's nothing you can do to change it besides focusing on healing, and it's easy to be restless, or feel depressed.
It pays so much to stretch, have a spotter, and just generally being safe while being active. I don't run usually when I work out, just use a low resistance bike because of my knee, but even that you have to be careful with.
