Karen was just as giddy about having magic as Jim was, if not more. She preoccupied at the moment with pranking ideas, most of which she was going to run by Nick once she found him.

Saying words out loud felt kind of silly, but Karen found that when she at least thought them, the magic worked anyway. As if proving something, she pointed her wand at a rock, and grinned brightly when it began to grow blue moss.

Jim couldn't have asked for anyone better to come along, besides maybe Dwight. He ducked his head down a little more, keeping completely still as Karen drew closer. When she turned away to do...whatever she was doing with the rocks, he twitched the wand and mouthed some random phase off the top of his head.

The monkey tail that appeared when the wand's magic zapped her was appropriate, he thought. After all the ear cracks, he was already enjoying giving her a taste of her own medicine.

Karen had been so caught up in her own mind that it hadn't occured to her that someone else might be just as into pranking as she was. She whirled around to where she'd heard someone speaking a word, and that was when something felt different and all kinds of wrong.

She felt a bit off balance, like she was going to fall forward, but she was standing perfectly fine. Something twitched along her side, and when Karen turned her head to see what it was, she froze.

Like she was testing her still bandaged arm, Karen moved the...the thing, and it moved. She curled the end and it curled. She made it stand still and it stopped moving.

She had a monkey tail.

"What in the hell?"

Jim had to bite down hard on his lip to keep from laughing. He was so glad she turned toward him because seeing the slow realization dawning on her face was priceless. As she continued to look confused, he tried to start slowly shuffling away, intent on never letting himself be known. What he didn't expect, though, how hard such a movement actually way, and how easy it was to accidentally trip on a root that was sticking out of the ground. He had no chance to catch himself, and landed face-first, half of his body out of the bushes and very much in range of sight.

"Oof!"
