Waking up was a slower process than usual. There was something warm and comforting about the room that just made Jim drowsy, and it took quite a few minutes for him to finally open his eyes and realize why

"I'm sleeping," she mumbled, clumsily batting his hands away before rolling onto her other side. She curled up a bit more and tugged the quilts up a little higher over her shoulder.
"Mmmmm.." She muttered angrily at him, but pushed herself up and blinked her eyes open.
"What?" She was suddenly aware of the fact that it was really cold and jumped out of bed, panicking that Samantha was going to freeze in her thin baby pajamas. It wasn't until she'd already grabbed the baby out of her crib that she realized they were both in pajamas other than the ones they'd gone to bed in.
Jim hadn't even thought of Sam, which was probably a bad parenting move. He followed after Pam pretty quickly, though, peeking in to see if everything was alright.
"Looks like we've all be given some new threads," he mused, walking over to kiss his daughter on the forehead. She blinked up sleepily at them. He paused for a moment, then it dawned on him. "...It's the first of December. I wonder if it's going to be like last year?"

He had sat up then, and only then did he realize there were windows and on its ledge, snow. Jim got up out of bed to peer outside, his eyes widening.
"...Woah."
