For those of you who still have your fathers (and are on at least "reasonable terms" with them), why not make an extra effort this Sunday to let them know you care about them ( Read more... )

*nods sadly* We lost my dad in 1995 right before New Year's. He was my best friend and biggest supporter. He was my BS meter (gaging mine and those around me with equal aplomb). We lost my FiL Thanksgiving of 2001. He was G's (and G's brother's) best friend and biggest supporter, and his BS meter was as finely tuned as my dad's.

How lucky we are, my friend, to have been blessed with such wonderful men to nurture us. *quiet smile*

Peace.

I wrote this for my dad a couple of years ago, and gave him a print of it. He keeps it pinned up in the dining room, where he and my mom spend most of their time. He was key in getting my car fixed this past week, and has been my lifesaver more times than I can remember.

I will certainly not pass up another chance to tell him, and show him, how much he means to me.

*hugs and smiles quietly* I see why he keeps it pinned up. That was most touching.

I'm sorry about the timing when your dad was stricken. Other than my married daughter and grandson, I have no relatives.

I am glad you have happy memories of your father even if you had disagreements. *hugs*

And hello to you, too! Thanks for being there for Kevin, especially now.

Glad you still have your father, even though his health isn't all everyone (including him!) would like it to be. Here's hoping he continues "hanging around" as long as he wishes, and when it's his time to leave, he can depart with minimal discomfort, and with his pride and dignity intact.

Hope I get the honor of meeting you some day!

Peace.
