Mick, you can't just let this go. I know exactly what you're going through because I've been experiencing the same exact situation for a while now. I know there are times when you've put in so much effort to make this work but the other person doesn't seem to give back and it hurts. It happens. I've wanted to throw my hands up and surrender and just let it go...but if this friendship ever meant anything to you then you should work on it. NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES. I've learned that recently and I don't know if it can ever go back to the way it was, but something better than nothing. This kid I felt like knew me better than anyone did and now were kinda like starting over. If that's what you want to do with her then you should give it a shot. You're both great people and you've done so much together.

Wow, I should be taken this advice right now.
