I hear ya. Especially right now as I work through my own first book and short stories. I'm struggling with it at the moment, it's been a rough year, but I'm not giving up writing for anything.

Some day it's going to be my book on the B&N shelf and in Kindles.

Thanks Jim, facing reality is always good advice :)

My first book is due out soon and I never imagined how hard the journey would be but DAMN it is worth it. I saw the mock up a few weeks ago and I finally saw why I was doing this hard slog.

Jim, you are an amazing writer and hearing this from you just cements it.

Slowly working on my first novel as well, and these are good words to hear. I'm lucky in that I have a published author willing to mentor me and give me feedback, something many aspiring authors don't have access to, but even with her help I know that the odds are heavily stacked against me, and that it will never happen quickly or easily.

Excellent advice, and applicable to WAY more careers than writing. It's very timely for those embarking upon NaNoWriMo, too!

Line breaks, plzthx? :D
