1. It occurs to me that I game a lot. Last week, the Tuesday group had the penultimate session of our Polaris campaign, while the Friday bunch finished our run of Unknown Armies. Honestly, that is not made clear! (It is in Unknown Armies, among other games.) And a couple of the other examples cut against it. e.g. an example of "Normal" difficulty - TN 12 - is "uncover a useful but not secret fact." If you're Jane Average, a roll of 7 or higher on two dice will get you the "Yes, But - " version of success at that. If you roll an eleven, though, you'll know a new useful but not secret thing straightforwardly.

I dunno. I'm still bitter about the WEG Star Wars game I played in 15+ years ago, where the GM made us roll to turn on our lightsabers. I can't decide if I felt better when I heard years later that it was actually a rule in the book.
