The Emmys

All of a sudden the sound went out while Sally Field was saying something against the war in her acceptance speech. This is the second time I've noticed this happen during acceptance speeches. Leave it to Fox.

I didn't watch the whole ceremony, but the bit (about an hour?) I did see had other random audio and video drop outs. I was blaming Comcast and my television, but now that I know it happened in more places than the Portland area...

Turns out this is what she said: “If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn’t be any god-damned wars in the first place.”

They said they censored it because she was 'god-damned', which is apparently a no-no.

"god-damn" has been an explicit phrase for some time. Songs will either mute out the "damn" or the "god" to make them suitable for radio airplay.

Curious though... why censor the whole sentence for one word? And if its supposed to be live... how do they to turn off the audio? It is Sally Field, for chrissakes.
