The album that did it for me was Tribe Called Quest's Low End Theory.

COunting Crows, August and Everything after as well. Those two albums I know every word to every song, front and back.

i don't usually respond but i feel oddly compelled to..

i am not sure if you are aware but "august and everything after" is what i consider to be the perfect album. i know every song on the album and listen to it frequently. in terms of contemporary music, "rain king" is my absolute favorite song and it holds a lot of special meaning for me.

i don't know what song started it for me or when i realized the power of music, but it was very young. i have a musical theatre background and have been doing this since.. what.. age five? i'm sure it was some showtune that really made me understand what music can do.

and there's my two cents,
t
