Frustrating Day

So I wake up yesterday to check out the USA vs Ghana match.

Both teams needed a win to advance, but the US also needed Italy to beat the Czech Republic also in order to not have to use the tie-breaker of Goal Differential. Since our GD was abysmal, it was really necessary that both us and Italia win. We got down 0-1 about 20 minutes in, when the (so-called) captain Claudio Reyna made a unforgivable defensive mistake that you expect to see in the Under 10 leagues. But with the half approaching, we scored one of the prettiest goals I've seen in a while, tying it up 1-1. We had tied it up, disheartened Ghana a little, got momentum on our side, and all we had to do was survive 5 minutes more and start the second half a tied game with the energy on our half. But then another jackass mistake coupled with a bad call gave Ghana a penalty kick in stoppage time and Ghana was up 1-2 at the half.

The USA team couldn't recover. Italy won just like we needed, but we couldn't help ourselves. I guess you can't expect to advance in the World Cup if you only score two goals (with only one of them scored by our players). So that's frustrating.

Then about 8 of us went and played some small-sided soccer. Granted, it was extraordinarily hot, and everyone was dying, but it brought to my attention exactly what bad shape I am in. I'm in the worse shape of my life. So that's depressing.

And then the real frustration. I typically try not to share poker stories on here, but will every once in a while when I'm kinda peeved. Well, last night I go on the casino boat and play some NL hold'em. I'm doing well, and then take down a decently sized pot with a Straight Flush to the 10. I'm extremely happy because high hand for the night out of the entire room wins $800 as long as they play the rest of the cruise. I'm in the lead with my SF - 10, and am also winning, so its likely that I'll get to the end. Even if I get busted, I figure it'll be worth it to go to the ATM for 200 more just to make it until 11:15. I mean, hell, I'd be free-rolling right? Well, less than an hour later, someone at THE SAME TABLE as me gets themselves a Straight Flush to the Jack. I almost cried. $800, gone, because a SF came up 1 rank higher than mine. I still have a winning night, so that's still good, but honestly, what are the chances?
