The issue irritates me in the same way that school / fire / police funding irritates me: there is a lot of tax money out there. The politicians favorite game is to spend money on extra services first and then use the left-over to fund the basics -- infrastructure, schools, fire and police. Then, they can say "Oh, we need more money to build roads so lets make a new tax." Bingo, more money. Wash, rinse and repeat.

I think he's probably got to go to the bathroom in that picture but can't because he is appearing at a public function...

I've met that guy twice, btw.

I know.

See, I was so excited when he first became mayor. I rooted for him in his first race against Hahn (and I didn't even live in L.A. proper, then!). Now I am hoarier and more skeptical.
