What an Amazing Trip!
Sea_Denise and I hit Vegas for our 1 year anniversary.
It was one of those trips that I wished would never end.
Day One - We got in around 4pm and checked into the jacuzzi suite at the NYNY. Sea_Denise had always wanted to stay there, and while we were both a little disappointed that the jacuzzi suite wasn't as cool as we had thought it was going to be, we both loved staying there.
After dinner we walked down to the Venetian and took a Gondola ride. The Gondoleer(?) was a 20 year old jazz pianist who sang beautifully in both English and Italian.
We shared the Gondola with one other couple who were on their honeymoon. I think this was Sea_Denise's favorite part of the trip and I have to admit it was very romantic.
Day Two - We checked out of the NYNY and checked in next door at the Monte Carlo. I found a web special a couple of months ago and got a couple of rooms really cheap.
Again, a beautiful hotel but geared more towards the older crowd. My cousin met us in the afternoon and we went to see the Shark Exhibit at Mandalay Bay.
After a brief nap we went to see Cook E Jarr at Harrah's. If you've never seen Cook E, he's a Vegas lounge lizard who gets up on stage with his karaoke machine and does very Vegas-y covers of all kinds of stuff from "Man of Constant Sorrow" to Eminem's "Without Me"
Day Three - My Dad who was visiting Roswell, NM, decided to drive up through Vegas to surprise us. Coincidentally, one of Sea_Denise's friends from Worcester was in Vegas for his brother's wedding so we all met up at the Luxor for dinner.
I did feel badly for my Dad, driving through the desert some lady sideswiped his car.
Nobody was hurt, and the damage was all superficial, but he was still pretty shaken up. That combined with all of the walking in Vegas (he has a bionic knee) made me worry about him a little, but it was really nice to have him there.
After dinner Sea_Denise, my cousin, my Dad and I all went to see Zumanity at the NYNY. Zumanity is an erotic Cirque du Soleil show and it was very good. About a half hour before the show 7 or 8 of the characters from the show started doing interactive things with the audience, which reminded me of Carlotta's Late Night Wing Ding a little. I have to admit it was a little odd watching a doing acrobatics feigning bondage sitting next to my dad but everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.
Day Four - Our flight left in the late afternoon so we had most of the day to finish up getting souvenirs and teaching my cousin how to play Blackjack at the Boardwalk (yay $3 blackjack tables!)
