I'm pondering the development of a new blog. This will in part be for my novel when it gets published. So, on the one hand, it will be something of an author blog with all of the usual author things. However, I want to do something more with this, something that will draw in readers and writer types for reasons beyond my written words. Because my

Oh man, I have so much sympathy for the blog-content dilemna. I write alternate-world YA fantasy, so besides writing-process stuff, I never know what I can put in my blog. But how much does writing process stuff interest most non-writers? I'd like my blog audience, like the audience of my other work, to consist of more than just writers.

You may have something with the paranormal aspect, especially if you can tie it into the real world - maybe once a week write about a reported paranormal sighting/phenomena? It could be historical or recent, anywhere in the world. That could be really neat.

I like that idea a lot. Posts from the real world on the paranormal. I always like reading about haunted places and such. I will definitely keep this notion in mind. Thanks!

I'd try and get all your blog/website stuff organized in one place. I just had a nice website put together using the Wordpress architecture and I really like it. My old blog is linked by a tab; there's a news section where I can post different things and a photo section (because I like to post photos), plus there is a tab for my book that will eventually (I hope) be under a separate "books" tab for when I have more than one book (and each book will get its own page). It's just a nice, clean, easy to navigate site - I can say this because I didn't design it! ;)

Admittedly I don't use livejournal but I've found navigating around your site/blog a little confusing. Plus I don't wanna tell you what I've had to do to try and post a comment... ;)

You're going to want something set up where it's really easy for people who are interested in your work to find you and the information they are looking for.

A news section featuring real life paranormal stuff sounds like a great idea!

Yeah, this blog here isn't going to be my author blog. I'll likely use wordpress or something similar. I like wordpress features and such. Need to get some money of course to get it up and running, so will be a while yet before I do. Thanks for the feedback!
