I had a huge art block in sophomore year through junior year, and it wasn't until senior year that I finally figured out what I wanted to do with my style. I tried so hard to be one of the awesome realistic artists in my class but I just wasn't anywhere near as good and I got really depressed about my art and my whole junior year felt wasted, nothing good art wise came out of it. Senior year I took character design, an animation class, but the teacher really forced you to draw in tons of different style and always pushed your comfort zone. If you can, you should try to take it, it changed my art forever.

But in whatever you do, best of luck!!

yeah I feel like I'm in a huge rut.
I can't help but feel I won't get anywhere when I get out of college.
I want to show my family that I didn't make a mistake coming here, because it what I really enjoy to do.

What is the class that does that? The animation class? If so I would so definably love to take it.
I have a love for all sorts of styles, I guess that also makes it hard for me to pick a direction xD

Ahhh the art block >< I've gone through a few of these. Just stuck and nothing seems to come out right. I agree with what Jackie suggested, taking a class like that would be a big help. I know that for me, I just kept trying different things, a lot of them didn't work or did work but I didn't like doing them. I think I've finally moved away from a really anime style (I think ^^;;) but it took a long time. A lot of it just takes time and patience and trying out stuff.

Mmm you could try doing a lot of life sketches, just go to the park or something and gesture sketch people and critters. Maybe check out art books at the library if you can. (I don't know what kinda stuff you do art wise like that so forgive me if I suggest things you already do ^^;;)

Good luck and keep trying though!! I know you'll break the block!

yeeah It's hard for me sometimes to just pick up a sketchbook and just draw.
I think I think about it too much... I just gotta draw xD

I do know drawing alot of life sketches will help me out, thats why I'm kinda excited about going to Rome. I hope it takes my mind in a different light and inspiration that I'm missing.

OH man! That's right you're going to Rome. I think that'll probably be a big help art block wise. Such a new atmosphere should really inspire you, specially since the architecture and the like there is so beautiful.

Hmmm... it looks good to me. Is there something in particular you don't like about it? (If you can identify what you think needs to be improved, then maybe you can improve it.)
As for being in a slump at the time... Well, what kind of things inspire you? Try to think of what is most interesting to you at that time and look into that. Vague words, I know, but I'm not sure how else to say it...
Anyway, try not to feel down. You're a great artist and I'm sure you will become even better with time. I hope you're doing better soon *hugs*
