The only reason I vote is because, since I live here, and don't plan on leaving any time soon, I want to get who I *believe* to be the lesser of the evils, who will do the lesser damage, who will wage the fewer wars, who will protect the most rights, etc etc... K and I had a conversation last night in which i waged a similar argument about the lesser of evils and contended that you can participate in a system without supporting it.. ie. ya gotta work with what you got even if its not much!!

I understand the point of view. I do.
Here's the entire debate in brief:
Ember suggests that there is an ethical responsibility to vote, because doing so can affect an outcome for some things. Not for the really important ones, but some decisions will be made by one candidate that will make life better or worse for lots of people.
I argued that if the standard for this ethical responsibility is to make a choice that will affect people, then there's also an ethical responsibility not to vote for a third party candidate. If you vote for someone knowing there's a 98% possibility they won't win, you've knowingly wasted the power to affect people's lives, which has the same affect of not voting ( ... )
