The U.S. Mint has implemented a rule against melting down pennies and nickels which, at current metal prices, could be worth more as metal than as currency.

People are stealing the metal plaques out of our park - the ones that say things like, "In memory of our beloved X who sat under this tree every day." I understand the metal in them is quite valuable. Valuable enough to steal, anyway.
