Silklantern is closing its doors....
how could I be anything but sad about this...
Here is a copy of what I posted on SL about SL..
http://silklantern.com/viewtopic.php?topic=21522&forum=1&0 As a kid I always thought writing seemed kind of fun. But after taking a Creative Writing class in college I was told I had little talent. I stopped writing. Why waste my time doing something I wouldn't ever be good at?
One day while living in Japan (as many of you know I was living there when I started at SL) I was curious when the next WOT book would come out and what it would be about. So I searched the web about it. I happened on the SL site.
I read through the chat forums and went to create an account. Much to my surprise it wanted me to create a character. I thought WTH I'll go for it. I created a character and followed the guiding and found I was posting a bio for critique. And before I knew it I was caught up in the role play.
Finally I created Meijina, probably the character I'm most known as, and the one I took as my personal ID. My attempt at being evil...
I got into a few threads with some great people. These people told me I was a good writer. The more I wrote the more confident in my own writing I got. I learned from the others I wrote with. I grew and matured as a writer.
I moved on. I did not want to be confined by writing in someone else's world. I wanted to create my own. From being in SL I succeeded in two NaNoWriMo's and the first Script Frenzy.
I self published my last NaNoWriMo novel. It needs editing, but I put a dedication in it anyway.
The first two names are Ili and DR.
I hope you read through these. Although I only saw you rarely in the chat room, your impact on my life is actually much larger than you realize
Thank you oh so much for this place to write.
