Jinto walked down the hall leaving his training session with Teyla, he stretched himself out and walked towards the mess hall slipping in and heading for the queue, slidding past tables to get there.
Jon sat down with his tray and took a moment to look around the mess hall. There were a surprising number of same-sex couples being...couple-y. Not even the SGC had been this bad.
He was about start in on what looked like beef stew--but from since the stories of not-whatever meat of choice were legendary, it probably wasn't--when he saw a kid about his age come in and head for the line. He wasn't dressed in standard Atlantis gear and he was much too young to have come from Earth so he must be Athosian.
Curious, he waved the kid over when he had his tray.
Jinto glanced around before walking over, he sat in the seat opposite him.* Pleasant day," he greeted setting his tray on the table and starting on his meal. I do not think we have met. I am Jinto. He replied bowing his head a little in greeting.
"Yeah, I get that," Jon said with a nod. He suddenly looked far older than his supposed seventeen years as he remembered everything that had happened in the past nine--no, eleven years.
Jon shook himself out of his contemplative mood at Jinto's words and soon the mask of the seventeen year old slipped back into place. "Maybe. Maybe not. I'm only seventeen; it's kind of hard for a lot to have happened to someone my age."
Jon grimaced. "Yeah, well, a lot of governments on Earth don't agree. They think that a gay man--someone who likes other men--was in the military, they'd spend more time staring at his teammates ass instead of fighting. Nevermind that the same could be argued for having men and women on the same team. That's also why it's not allowed for teammates to be together. Usually." He shrugged.
Jinto looked back at him and grinned, "Sorry I did not mean to insult Earth." He replied smiling goodnaturedly. "I just I do not think I would survive well there." He chuckled. Although it would be an interesting place to see."
