So far I'm not loving NC. I've yet to see any of this 'southern hospitality' I hear so much about. Have had a couple of encounters that have left me fuming. The weather here is disgustingly hot and moist. I can't walk down the street to a store because it's all highways and byways that don't make any sense, it's impossible to turn around here. I can't see the sky or stars. Everything is hidden by trees. It's a sneaky sneaky state hiding behinds trees. It's full of blood sucking fiends, I loathe mosquito bites (not that anybody loves them, I know). This area is definitely Not bike friendly, the roads are tiny and I fear riding them. The bus system is not user friendly and I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure it out. It's just not the desert.

I miss the friendly helpful people, the dry heat, being able to walk to the store or the gym, seeing all of the sky and stars, being able to see Anything coming a mile away, the lack of mosquitoes, the bike lanes, the super easy to use bus guide, the (few) friends I made, and the photographers I worked with.

But I like to try and have a positive outlook on life and what comes my way so here's what I have so far for this state.

It is gorgeous. It is a nice change of pace to look outside and see canopy of green trees and vines instead of brown. There will be seasons (although I HATE cold and snow). The club scene looks to be promising. There is a thriving hoop community here that I can't wait to join. I get to meet new people, make new friends and work with new photographers. Our apartment is nicer, we have more room. The food (options) are better here, we found a decent selection of cheeses Yay!) Um... that's all I have so far. But I am trying to give it a chance. I don't think I'll love it here but I do think that I will grow to like and appreciate the area. It's just another step in the road and I might as well enjoy it.
