Ranty rant rant
So, I sort of hate this school right now. Nothing is easy on this campus and the University has to make everything as bureaucratically complicated as possible.
All of the wireless networks are locked, I have access to them but I have to log in every single time I open my computer. Not to mention I have to log in to the main UW page, log in for my email, log in for MyUW, etc. Really, I don't have time to dick around with this.
I wanted to print my paper today. I went to the Social Science library and first off they said I could print directly from my laptop wirelessly but I couldn't figure that out. Then when I went to check out printing from their computers I realized that I have to pay 10 cents per page to print. (MATC allows students to print for free) The notice by the printer says I need a "copy card". I asked the librarian where to get a copy card from, she informed me I had to buy one at the copy center. Where is the copy center? On the 6th floor. So then I have to run around the building looking for the copy center. Buy a card. Find the library again. Get my file from my laptop to the computer. Print. Pay. GAH!
These buildings were all built by schizophrenic people. You enter Social Science on the 6th floor. If you want to get from the library to the Sociology office (which are both on the 8th floor) you have to go down one floor, down three hallways and then up one floor again. None of the room numbers make sense in their ordering. I end up walking in circles trying to find where my class is.
There is no where in Social Science to just hang out. There is no lounge with chairs to read in, people end up sitting on the floor in the hallways. The library is not very comfortable and I can never find it anyway. If I want to sit somewhere I have to go over to Van Hise. There are also no microwaves... anywhere... ever. I can't eat my lunch.
