It took a really horrible birthday two years ago to get me to realize that birthdays... aren't all that they're cracked out to be. When you're younger, they're these magical events revolved entirely around you with presents and attention. But as you get older, everyone gets less interested. Rather than trying to spend it with friends, you should take a nice, relaxing day and celebrate with YOURSELF. Order your favorite Chinese food. Eat ALL of it and don't feel guilty. Go to bath and body works and get some yummy smelling bath salts or soap, then relax with a new book. Then after the exhausting bath, curl up in freshly washed sheets and watch your favorite movie.

Take the time to pay attention to yourself instead of relying on other people to do it for you. Of course sometimes I think I shouldn't give other people advice...
