Oh snap! Another one!
If you don't know what SakuraWatch is all about, check out
this post.
It was pretty warm and clear today. A perfect day to check on the State of the Bielenson. In short, the trees are coming along. Things seem to be tracking closely with
last year. Maybe a little bit behind, but not far.
As I entered the park, the trees appeared largely the same as last week.
Not a whole lot going on so far, as you can see.
But a closer look reveals that the dark buds are looking a good deal greener, and there are a couple of spots of pink among them.
Along the edge of the pond, again, things look about the same as last week.
Let's get a closer look...
Like last time, there were a couple of flowers here and there. This week, there were a few more blossoms.
But for the most part, even the trees with flowers were mostly bare.
This tree was the most flowering one I saw. Even still, it was mostly buds and flowers that had yet to open.
Last year at this time, there was a handful of trees that were mostly covered in blossoms. Not this year. At least not yet.
Here you can take a good look at a representative sample of the buds in the trees. Where last week they were mostly dark, red-brown with green tips pushing through, now they are mostly green with only a little of their dark shell remaining.
See? A lot of green buds. Only a few blossoms starting to open up.
Here's a shot for you bud-fetishists to obsess over.
The way things look right now, I'd say that the weekend of March 15 seems like a good bet. Maybe the weekend of March 22nd. But the way things are developing, I'd guess that the sakura won't be peaking yet by the weekend of March 8.
So how's that cosplay coming along?
;D
