I laughed at the Red Bull story. (I think the airport regulations are a bit ridiculous sometimes. I get where they're coming from with the liquids, but it's a bit over-the-top to not allow in unopened beverages.)
Each seat in coach had a video system installed, with dozens of movies to choose from, as well as TV shows and assorted games. And it was all included in the price of your ticket. Aren't most international flights like that? Then again, I've only flown international once, on Quantas.
You'll get my Red Bull when you pry it from my cold, dead belly! *burp*
I don't know if most int'l flights now have personal video entertainment systems, but the Virgin flight to Heathrow was the only flight I've been on that had them. The flights I took to/from Italy a few years earlier didn't have them, nor did the flights I took to London and back from Paris a couple of years before that. And considering how long airlines keep their planes in service without changing them, I'm sure a lot of int'l planes are un-upgraded pre-video-system models.
I was especially annoyed because I knew I'd be flying home on a plane with a video system, and I was actually looking forward to kicking back and watching a buncha movies on the ride home. But my seat was the only one with a broken video system! Or maybe it was only the three-seat cluster I was in. Whatever. Everyone else on the plane was working video, except for me! That made me even madder. And it was a full flight, so I couldn't change seats.

Uh... like in jazz, sometimes you need to break the rhythm or predictability ensues...?
